Want to lose weight? Find out which diet is right for you

Its that time of the year again when we are all gearing up for our summer holidays and we all know what that means, time to shed those extra pounds but with all the diets that are available today how do you know which one is right for you?

There are countless diets and health fads out today, many of which wont help you lose weight in the long run. For the best weight loss results you should choose a diet that will keep the weight off in the long run. In this article I am going to give you a selection of information about a few of the diets that are around today as a way of helping you understand which diet will work best for you.

Atkins Diet

One of the most popular diets of the last few years is the Atkins Diet. This famous high protein and high fat diet was launched by Dr Atkins back in 1972 and even though it has been criticised in the past as being unhealthy you are guaranteed to lose weight on it. The Atkins diet is a meat lovers dream. The idea behind it is that by drastically reducing your carbohydrate intake is that your body will use up your fat stores first. This is because our bodys burn fat and carbohydrates for energy but carbohydrates are the first to go.

On the Atkins diet you are able to eat aspects such as red meat, chicken, cheese, eggs, fish and shellfish. You can cook with butter, put mayo on your tuna and drizzle your salads with olive oil. On a typical days diet with the Atkins diet you will be eating things such as cheese mushroom omelette, decaffeinated coffee with single cream for breakfast. Chicken breast with melted blue cheese and a green salad for lunch. Steak served with spinach topped with soured cream for dinner and as a snack, two slices of ham.

Juice Diet

There are loads of juice diets around today but all of these diets are based around the same idea, which is that drinking large amounts of fresh fruit and vegetable juice. This diet aims at detoxing your system as well as allowing you to lose weight. One of the disadvantages of going on a juice diet is that it can cause you headaches and you will feel hungry if you dont eat other healthy foods, which if you are following on extreme juice diets you will most likely not eat healthy foods, which means you will put weight back on really quickly. The best way of following the juice diet is to buy your own juicer.

Low Calorie Diet

This diet is loved by many celebrities and if you are taking part in it you will usually consume between 800 to 1,000 calories a day, which will hopefully allow you to lose about 15 pounds in 35 days. This diet is based on the understanding that food doesnt cause weight gain, it is eating the wrong combinations that does it so this diet encourages you to eat foods in a specific combination or order.

Little Black Dress Diet

This diet is based on a ten day plan, which is diverse for people who need to lose weight for health reasons. It works on the idea of food combining and states that you shouldnt mix protein, carbohydrates or starch together in any meal and you should stay away from all forms of alcohol.

These are just a few examples of some of the diets that are around today but the most important thing to remember is to choose a diet that is best suited to your dietary needs.

Can You Eat Dessert On A Diet?
In my opinion, any diet that doesn't allow for desserts, at least once in a while, is a diet that is doomed to fail. I know there are diets out there that are designed to help you get rid of sugar cravings and therefore ban sugar from your diet. But even if you are on a sugar free diet, either because you choose to be or because you need to be because of a health issue such as diabetes which makes avoiding sugar part of your everyday life, I think dessert should be part of every diet plan.
